Have a wonderful weekend.

My darlings, what are you up to this weekend? Alex and I are going to Abbey's house to celebrate Febgiving, which is basically Thanksgiving in February! Her friends made it up. Isn't that a great idea? Hope you have a relaxing weekend, and here are a few great posts from around the web...

The top ten mispronounced foodie words.

Wow, holy bedroom makeover!

What a lovely wedding (with orange shoes).

Oh, Nutella snack drink, where have you been all my life?

Good to know when climbing trees.

Grace Kelly would have liked this pencil skirt.

Flower pinata.

Funny shopping moment in the UK.

Loving J. Crew's "real models" series.

Beautiful bookstore cafe.

Loving these old-school toys.

Another adorable Olympics commercial. What a great song.

The cutest cross-country road trip proposal story.

Plus, five Cup of Jo posts you may have missed.
* A well-dressed autumn.

* An Ode to the Indie.

Winter weather

New York is having another blizzard today. Blarg. I'm about ready for winter to be over, aren't you? To make things a little cozier, I'm thinking of making cauliflower soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Plus, the women's figure skating finals are on tonight! Hope you guys are staying warm and cozy. xo

City Hall wedding hair

Jess and Mike got married at New York's City Hall, and I love that she just wore her hair down. Beautiful and so relaxed.

Book covers

The baby was kicking, so I woke up super early this morning and spent a random hour looking through book covers online. So many hilarious and clever designs out there!

P.S. More + amazing + covers.

Flower power

Steven Alan's new floral underwear is so cute.

Iceland escape

My dad is obsessed with all things Iceland, and the country really does feel magical. This teeny house is perched on a cliff on ElliĆ°aey, a southern island in Iceland. How amazing does it look? I'd love to ride a bike down that hill or lie in the grass at midnight.

P.S. Would you be brave enough to walk around the very edge?
P.P.S. More travel fantasies...

Pizza cones

A new eatery just opened in Manhattan, and they sell pizza cones. Not sure what to think (weird? awesome?), but I think I'll ride my bike up there today and try one.

Update: I went up there for lunch and got a mushroom pizza cone. At $6.40, it was expensive and sort of grody. The dough was bland and there wasn't enough sauce. Still, it was funny to try! xo

Maternity dress

Now that I'm six months pregnant, I've been craving something pretty to wear, so I just ordered this striped maternity dress from British online shop ASOS (which has a fabulous and not-too-expensive collection). My fingers are crossed that it fits when it arrives in the mail! :)

For other maternity clothes, I absolutely adore belly bands, which let you wear your regular jeans. Gap Maternity has cute shirts, and Target Maternity's long-sleeved tee has been my go-to shirt throughout my pregnancy (clearly).

Do you lovely ladies have any other recommendations? xoxo

How to look confident

Want to hear a fun fact? New York Magazine recently published 50 steps to simple happiness, and they offered this funny trick: If you leave your mouth in that slightly upturned position it takes after saying 'Cheez Whiz,' you'll look relaxed and confident. Huh, who knew? Could be great if you were walking into an interview or feeling nervous at a party.

Have a lovely weekend!

My sweet readers, what are you doing this weekend? I got back from Florida this afternoon, and Alex and I are going out for Italian tonight. Nothing better than lasagna on a Friday night. :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few great posts from around the web...

Pretty Australian homes.

Feeling knotty.

Ooh, red glasses. Now there's a thought.

A history of Obama feigning interest in mundane things.

Raspberry fingers.

Fashion inspired by the movie An Education.

Weekend getaways from New York. (Yes, please.)

Fashematics makes me laugh.

Belt rack.

Maps.

Built by Wendy's new collection.

How to really love a child.

Genius art-history poster.

Jeffrey Monteiro.

This French film looks adorable. (Just craving subtitles.)

Who is the cutest?

The sweetest marriage proposal. Congratulations, Christina!

Plus, five Cup of Jo posts you might have missed:

Martha's Vineyard wedding

Adam and Jamie had a gorgeous wedding in Martha's Vineyard...
They exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony, surrounded by thirty-six lucky guests.
They printed sweatshirts as favors...

And had an old-fashioned clambake, followed by pies from a local baker. How fun is that? (And a wedding dress with a lobster bib is pretty awesome.)

Pothole gardens

Artist Pete Dungey plants gardens in the potholes on British roads. "If we planted one of these in every hole," he says, "it would be a like forest in the road."

Side braids

Ever since Alexander Wang put them in his Spring 2010 runway show, side braids seem to be everywhere these days. Aren't they gorgeous? It would be such an easy look for summer brunches and bike rides.

Home Inspiration: Flowers

I'd love to have more plants at home, and Juliet Totten's New York apartment is really inspiring. She grows lavender, rosemary, lemons, ferns and mosses next to the windows, and this summer she plans to grow tomatoes and strawberries (in a NYC apartment--awesome). And see the small red-and-yellow bouquet next to the mirrors? They're actually paper decoupage flowers attached to wires! Genius.

P.S. A plant table.

Raincoat

I love this Toast raincoat. Those funnel-neck collars always look so beautiful and chic.

One belly, four ways

My sweets, hope you all had wonderful long weekends! I flew down to Florida on Sunday to visit my mom and her husband, and we've been having a great time. It's colder than usual (we wore fleeces to the pool!), so we've been taking long walks and talking about babies. Last night, she and her husband made Spanish tapas for dinner, including Spanish tortilla, Manchego cheese, and garlic-stuffed olives in a beautiful long olive tray. Afterward, we ate berries and brownies and watched The Bachelor, which my mom got really into. (By the way, what was up with that crazy preview for the finale?) Moms are the best! xoxo

Have a fun long weekend!

My darling readers, what are you up to this Valentine's Day weekend? Alex and I are heading to the Brooklyn Flea, which is spending the winter in this awesome bank building. I'm already working up an appetite for the delicious food they have there, like this spinach pie and fresh ricotta. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few great posts from around the web....

A proud big-sister-to-be.

Cupcake truffles.

Forget business and first. These airplanes are now offering cuddle class!

Winter cape.

Loving this movie poster. Refreshingly simple and perfectly 1960's.

Cheeky onesie.

Amazing home before-and-afters.

A dirty truck never looked so good.

Heart wedding invitations.

Love how this ship is painted right on the wall.

If you're a divorce lawyer, it's probably good to have a sense of humor.

Plus, a few Valentine-y Cup of Jo posts you may have missed:
* Valentine's posts from the past few years.
* Kissing checklist.
* Nicknames.
* A romantic wedding kiss.
* The Shining, reimagined as a romantic comedy.

Have a great weekend! xo

Carrot cake whoopie pies

Oh my goodness, how delicious do these carrot cake whoopie pies look? Cinnamon, walnuts, cream-cheese icing...YUM!

Valentine's Day treats

Happy almost Valentine's Day! What are your plans for the day? Here are a few flowery treats, just under the wire...

* A bundle of lavender, $10 (which lasts for ages); wild rose soap, $10; an adorable elephant watering can, $4.49; a vintage flower trash can, $34.50 (I just got one of these for our bedroom); a floral bikini from J. Crew, $110, and Mast Brothers chocolate bars, $10 each (their Salt and Pepper version sounds especially delicious). xoxo

Home inspiration

Lonny Magazine featured the homes of sisters Antonia and Victoria Thompson, and I loved some of their little touches. Above, to make her own bar cart, Victoria put a wooden tray on a vintage suitcase...
The round mirror above her fireplace looks beautiful (and I love that bike figurine)...
This book wallpaper is amazing in the kitchen...
And this Cole & Son wallpaper transforms the teeny bathroom!

How long is your commute?

My sister is interviewing for jobs and trying to figure out how long of a commute she should consider. Commuting isn't all bad (NPR, rainbows) but a long drive can be a bummer. I loved this New Yorker article about commuting, which featured a woman who spent a whopping six-and-a-half hours commuting every day! How long is your commute? How do you feel about it?

P.S. Kramer gets a job.

Rad birth announcement

Love this birth announcement. The parents are so cool, and I love how the dad's hands are in his pockets. Very mellow of him. :)
